Midweekers are free events, open to people of all ages and genders, where you can listen to inspiring stories from local men and understand some key issues facing young guys in our region.
This month’s Midweeker is with Sia Soliola.
Winner of last year’s NRL Ken Stephens Medal and often referred to as the ‘Spiritual Leader’ of the Canberra Raiders, Sia always goes above and beyond for his team and the community.
Menslink CEO, Martin Fisk, remembers seeing Sia one night at 1 am after one of the Big Night Out fundraisers, calmly stacking chairs to help clean up after a very successful night. He’d been at training all day and came to our event to support our work – he’d even started his day by serving breakfast at the Early Morning Centre for homeless people at 6 am and then coached a junior side before starting training at 8:30. A long day by anyone’s measure!
Sia is a supporter of many charities – not the least of which is Menslink as the face of our Silence is Deadly campaign. Come and hear his personal story and why he gives so much to so many… He might even talk a little bit about football too.
Remember, entry to Menslink Midweekers is free, is open to people of all ages and genders (definitely not just men!), and you can grab a meal, coffee or a drink while listening to a great speaker talk of the most important defining moments of their lives….
Come along from 5:30pm to Gryphons Caffe and Bar in Griffith to hear him talk and learn more about the work Menslink does and why it matters to our community. His talk will start at 6:00pm and Midweekers generally wrap up by 6:30pm or so.
We will be auctioning off a 2020 season Raiders’ jersey signed by the current squad. The winning bidder will also be able to request a personal message and autograph on the jersey from Sia on the night.
