Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) is abducted and locked up in a hotel for 15 years, with only a television to keep him sane. When he is finally released, Dae-su has just five days to seek revenge against his enigmatic captors and come to terms with his mysterious imprisonment.

Loosely adapted from a Japanese manga of the same name, Oldboy is the critically acclaimed second instalment in director Park Chan-wook’s Vengeance Trilogy. A masterclass in the thematic exploration of violence and revenge, this action-thriller is regarded by many as one of the greatest films of all time.

‘A powerful film not because of what it depicts, but because of the depths of the human heart which it strips bare’ – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Presented on 35mm film prints from the NFSA collection.
