ACT Policing is investigating the attempted robbery of a Domino’s Pizza driver in Kambah on Thursday night (June 27).

Around 9.15pm, the driver delivered a pizza to an address in Carleton Crescent, Kambah and while he was returning to his car, he was approached by a man.

The man attempted to grab the delivery drivers’ money bag before striking him in the face.

After assaulting the delivery driver the offender fled empty-handed. Officers from Tuggeranong General Duties and the AFP Specialist Response Group (SRG) Dog Team searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 170cm (5’7”) tall with a medium build and a scruffy grey beard. At the time of the attempted robbery he was wearing a dark colored ‘driza-bone’ type jacket and white sneakers.

Police are urging anyone who may have information relating to the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

BimboGeek is right. If they think they can get $20 without much risk, they will.

People who are hanging out (especially speed/ice freaks) are not the most rational people on the planet.

Thieves generally look for soft targets. Unfortunately, pizza deliverers are among them just now.

If the farktards realised that the drivers are instructed to leave the shop with no more than $20 on them they might think twice..

$20 change, and then the minimum order amount is $24, deliver a couple of orders and give only little if any change and it adds up.

Easy way of course to negate the risk is to require card payments only; either online when ordering or in person using a tap and go device.

But junkies will steal any amount of cash, even just the value of a single pizza. The way they see it, money is a fictional construct and it’s worth a lot more to them than the company, so let’s use it to investigate the nature of happiness, which is easily induced in the subject with smack. Naturally as true pioneers they are only generous enough to experiment on themselves…

It would be quite unusual to do more than two deliveries in a run.

We would routinely do six at a time.

might be like that now, but back when I delivered pizza I had a s***load more than that on me.

38? 45?

I did pizza delivery a couple of decades ago and sometimes had hundreds on me.

They might leave the store with $20 change, but I imagine after doing a run of deliveries (at a minimum of about $25 these days) they’d have a couple of hundred on them. Still worth it for anyone but a heroin addict? Probably not. That said, you’d think you’d go for the night before, seeing as the Origin was on.

Actually that’s highly unlikely given many deliveries are often prepaid, ordered online. The reality is that the vast majority of drivers would have less than $100 on them.Having said that desperados aren’t known for measured intellect.
