Police arrested a 33-year-old man yesterday following an incident in Belconnen.

At about 3:10 pm on 21 November, officers from Belconnen Police Station conducted a traffic stop on a stolen motor vehicle when they encountered the male, who allegedly attempted to evade the police, colliding with a brick wall of an apartment building.

He allegedly continued to pursue his attempts for a quick getaway by driving away again, ultimately resorting to fleeing on foot, before police apprehended him.

The man was charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without lawful consent, unlicenced driver/rider – licence never held, fail to stop motor vehicle for police and two counts of unlawful possession of stolen property.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
