There is a well known saying among economists that recessions create opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs. So it is hardly surprising that one particular young Canberran has decided now is the time to make the move and set up a new business in the middle of a global pandemic.

After finding success as a director for one of Canberra’s big brand agencies, Jason Roses has now joined with Natalie Shawcross, and gathered a new team with over 30 years’ extensive experience within the Canberra property market, to create Canberra’s newest real estate agency, Verv Property.

Born and raised in Canberra, Jason has a proven track record in real estate, winning multiple awards.

“I am very proud of what I have achieved in my career so far and being a part of a hugely successful team in a large real estate group in Canberra,” Jason said.

“But I have spent a lot of time thinking about what I want in an agency and I felt this was a good time to set up on my own.”

Jason says the new agency, which opened on 1 October, will offer a boutique service.

“I want Verv to be truly client-focused. A boutique agency can offer a different level of personal service as it can be more agile and responsive.

“Being smaller has some great advantages, even with things like implementing new systems and technology. Our clients will get the best of what the industry and technology has to offer.

“Big brands can take longer to adapt and make decisions while we will have smoother processes and be more efficient,” Jason explained.

Jason says being a boutique agency is no reflection on the size of properties the agency looks after.

“Collectively we already have a good client base. Our sales team cover the whole range of properties, from first home buyers through to seasoned investors and large scale projects.

“No matter whether someone needs to sell a five bedroom family home or a quaint one bedroom apartment, we uncover what’s special and unique about any listing. Then we will find the right perfect buyer for it at the best possible price,” Jason said.

Jason and Natalie have gathered a quality team to form Verv Properties.

Braith Harfield will work with Jason in sales while Natalie will look after the commercial division and Charlie Evans is Verv’s residential property manager.

“We have an amazing team who can look after every type of commercial and residential client, from people with single assets to investors with multiple properties. Personally, I hate the cookie-cutter approach of some of the big firms. It doesn’t serve clients well.

“The point of difference with Verv Property is that we have a truly one-on-one approach. If you call you will speak directly with us. We are not part of a large machine where service is sometimes lost.

“We know everyone has their own unique story and putting a home up for sale is so much more than just selling a property. People have built memories and grown families in these homes. There’s an emotional connection there that we listen to and tailor the sale process to achieve the outcome that each property deserves.

“Everyone in the team at Verv is driven by a collective vision to help people succeed throughout the real estate process. Our mission is to deliver a remarkable experience to our clients and ensure we deliver the best outcome for everyone.”
