Remaining obsessed with the player who can’t play, the Capitals have the thrilling news that Wodonga’s own Lauren Jackson might be immortalised (if you vote for her sufficient numbers) in wax for Madame Tussauds effort to fleece the colonials more efficiently:
Jayco Australian Opals and Canberra Capitals star Lauren Jackson is one of six Australian sporting greats nominated to be immortalised in wax at the world-famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Sydney.
The four-time Olympic Medallist is one of the most recognisable sports stars in Australia and could join the likes of Cathy Freeman and Ian Thorpe with your help.Jackson, the first female Australian flag bearer at an Olympic Games, is one of six sporting legends nominated for the honour and with your support she can become the first Australian basketballer to be recreated in wax form.
“It has been a whirlwind 12 months and this was such an unexpected surprise to top off an amazing year,” Jackson said.
“It was a huge honour and privilege to lead the Australian team and be chosen to carry the flag in the Opening Ceremony at the London Olympics.
“This is also is a great honour to be recognised as a nominee for this activity and I’m most grateful. There really are some great sporting legends in Madame Tussauds and it would be amazing to have my figure alongside them.”
