As the Bimberi debacle rolls on the Liberals’ Vicki Dunne has taken another swing at the recent report into the troubled youth justice facility:

Accusations of staff coercion were left out of the recent ACT Human Rights Commission’s review into the Bimberi Youth Justice Centre, Shadow Community Services Minister Vicki Dunne revealed today.

“Shockingly, the Commissioner admitted to me that while they received accusations of bullying and coercion from Bimberi staff, they didn’t include them in the final report because the perpetrators had since left the centre,” Mrs Dunne said.

“This clearly contradicts Joy Burch’s assurances to the Legislative Assembly and to the community that Bimberi staff weren’t coerced or bullied during the review.

“Moreover, it raises serious questions about what else has been left out of the review. Given the entire report is retrospective, how can the Commissioner claim these accusations weren’t included because they’re ‘in the past?’

The perpetrators have not all left Bimberi. Shame on those who threatened defamation.
