A 37-year-old man has been arrested after an armed robbery of a supermarket at Queanbeyan on Saturday afternoon.
According to NSW Police, around 5 pm on Saturday (24th March), a man entered the store on Gilmore Place and confronted and threatened staff with a syringe and demanded money before fleeing with cash.
Officers from Monaro Police District attended and located the man in the backyard of a nearby home.
According to NSW Police, he struggled and allegedly assaulted officers before he was subdued.
The man was arrested and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with multiple offences, including robbery, resisting arrest and assaulting police.
This is the second syringe armed robbery in the past two weeks in Queanbeyan after a man held a syringe to the neck of a 55-year-old store owner on Waniassa Street.
According to Monaro Police District, the two incidents could be related but the incident is still under investigation.
