Police from Monaro Police District are appealing for the public’s assistance to locate a man after an armed robbery at a Queanbeyan store yesterday (Wednesday 14 March).

About 1:50 pm yesterday afternoon, a man entered a store on Waniassa Street and was followed in by the 55-year-old male owner who had been outside talking to an acquaintance.

The owner asked the man if he required assistance and after declining, the man suddenly grabbed the owner from behind and allegedly held a syringe to his throat.

The male threatened the owner and then grabbed cash from the register. The man fled from the store and was last seen running towards the tennis courts off Waniassa Road.

No one was injured during the incident.

The man was described to police as being 25-30 years of age, thin build and 178cm tall. He had fair, short hair and was wearing a black cap, grey t-shirt and black pants.

Police are continuing with their inquiries to locate the offender.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.

The information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
