A 40-year-old Giralang man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning after being charged with acts endangering life after an incident in Weston yesterday (Wednesday, 10 September) afternoon.

Around 4:15pm, police responded to reports that a man had entered a restaurant and emptied a tin of fuel onto the floor and furniture and made threats to ignite it.

Prior to police arrival, two customers inside the restaurant managed to restrain the man before he had the opportunity to ignite the fuel.

ACT Fire and Rescue attended the location and identified the fuel as diesel.

The man was arrested at the scene and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He has been charged with acts endangering life. Bail will be opposed.
