Urban Services Minister John Hargreaves has put out this media release telling everyone not to park on the grass.

I’m wondering how long this pronoucement will be enforced before it gets forgotten about along with all the other Canberra rules that aren’t enforced (walking your dog on an oval??).

Key thing to note: “them on nature strips near intersections.”

I have seen many cars with tickets for trying to sell their cars on the corner of Kingsford Smith Drive and Southern Cross Drive.

I don’t think they are referring to just parking on the front lawn.

there is allways some one that suports half baked crap like this. its been the law for years. its hardly ever inforced and cant see anything changeing less the A.C.T realy needs the funds from those tickets!

Hargreaves is spot on with this. If you want to sell your car put an ad in the paper or take it to a car yard.

And that eerie Stanhope picture invaded my monitor again.

Mr. Hargreaves writes “don’t try and sell your vehicle on a nature strip.”

So if I get some astro turf, put that on the nature strip and put the car on top then I am in the clear as the car isn’t on the nature strip…and there is no law saying I can’t park astroturf…well, maybe litter laws…

If the want less cars on the (lack of) nature strip, try getting the Fed’s to cut the fuel excise.
I’m tipping if Fuel prices keep going the way they are we will have more and more cars parked on the Comrade’s precious dirt…

John, how about improving the parking so that desperate public servants don’t have to double park on kerbs and on sidewalks and on your precious grass.

There’s no grass left on the ground where I usually park my car anymore. So this media release doesn’t apply to me.

Cars on side strips can be ugly in that white trash kind of way…. but its not that bad…. and very valid point thumper….. its not like we have been able to maintain these strips since water restrictions and they are not exactly in mint condish.
