Police investigating fatal crash on Hume Highway, near Federal Highway turn-off

Police are investigating a fatal crash on the Hume Highway this morning after a Mitsubishi Pajero crashed, killing the driver and injuring four passengers.

The Pajero was reportedly traveling towards Jindabyne at around 10:20 am when it rolled onto its roof after attempting to dodge an unknown object about one kilometre from the Federal Highway turn-off.

While the driver was killed on impact, the driver’s side female passenger sustained serious injuries and has been airlifted to Canberra Hospital.

The remaining three passengers were taken to Goulburn Base Hospital as a precautionary measure with minor injuries.

Police have established a crime scene and are looking into what caused the crash. Both southbound lanes on the Hume Highway have been closed as detectives and crime scene officers investigate.
