Police seek witnesses to aggravated robbery at Mecure Hotel Braddon

ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to an aggravated robbery of a hotel in Braddon yesterday morning (Sunday, June 29).

About 9.00am a woman, armed with a knife, entered the reception of the Mercure Hotel on Ainslie Avenue, Braddon, and threatened two female staff members while demanding cash.

A male employee has attempted to restrain the offender and a brief struggle has ensued. The offender fled on a bicycle, making off with a sum of cash.

The male employee sustained minor injuries.

Criminal Investigations Detectives are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who saw a woman riding a dark coloured mountain bike in the vicinity of Ainslie Avenue and Kanangra Court.

The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a slim build, approximately 5’3” to 5’5” (160cm – 165cm) tall, wearing black pants and jacket with a grey hood over her head.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
