A search warrant executed by ACT Policing yesterday afternoon (8 August) has resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of allegedly stolen property, and one man being charged.
The operation began following information provided by a member of the public regarding a person allegedly selling stolen items via social media sites.
Enquiries by general duties officers from Woden Police Station led to police securing a search warrant for a property in Blueberry Street in Kingston.
Recovered items included a Honda motorbike, a Nissan Skyline, electronic devices, a significant number of power tools, and other items including ammunition. Cash suspected to be the proceeds from selling stolen property was also seized.
The estimated value of the stolen property is in excess of $100,000.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the residence and charged with possession of stolen property and possession of ammunition. He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (9 August). Enquiries are continuing and additional charges are expected.
Attending police noted that while some recovered items had identifying marks on them, many did not.
People are urged to label items or record serial numbers to assist in the return of recovered stolen property.
Anyone with information about the location of stolen property that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
