The underground music haven that is Transit Bar will host an all-local lineup at its Bushfire Benefit show this Thursday. The Narcissists, Powder Blue, Swift Peaks, Space Party, Ballet Bay and a stack of DJs round out a multi-genre musical offering while Landspeed Records, Bentspoke Brewing Co and 2XX FM have joined the cause as well. It’s set to be a truly special night after a horrific fire season, the effects of which are still impacting Canberra’s artistic community.

Ballet Bay will back up his set with his own headline performance at Smith’s Alternative on Saturday. Billed as the project launch for this electro-punk artist, Groovy Daughter and Deputy Chief Wardens complete the lineup for this exciting introduction to a unique young artist.

A supergroup of Aussie rock icons, including members of Powderfinger, You Am I, Spiderbait and Jet, are bringing a Beatles masterpiece to life this Friday at the Canberra Theatre Centre for Abbey Road Live. Getting the classic songs ready for the stage proved more difficult than you might imagine.

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers will make their triumphant return to Transit Bar on Friday night. They’ve been selling out rooms around the country and they’ll be joined by Kitschen Boy, and Canberra’s own Sputnik Sweetheart and Slow Dial.

There’s plenty on offer all through the week as well, with interstate acts An Horse, Kelso, Moody Beaches (not to be confused with Moody Beach who are also in town this week), and Kim Salmon all dropping into the Berra. And don’t forget that Badger & Co are hosting a string of shows through ANU O-Week.
