Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Muck, the Australian Cattledog cross Rhodesian Ridgeback, and bonded cats Carl and Homer are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!

Puppy of the Week: Muck

This is Muck, the charming and still-squishy 11-week-old Aussie Cattle Dog cross Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. He and his brothers and sisters have spent the past month at our shelter growing and playing, and now they’re ready to be adopted.

Adopting an 11-week-old pup like Muck is perfect for creating a lifelong companion: you’re getting a blank canvas – a healthy, vaccinated, microchipped and desexed buddy waiting for you to raise him how you want him. Or her. Muck’s adorable tiny sisters, Wendy and Betsy, are here looking for a home, too.

These little pups (Muck is one of many we have available) are already very social and great with children and other animals but, of course, there’s work to be done with toilet training and learning to follow instructions (time for a gratuitous yet very subtle plug for RSPCA ACT puppy training school?)

A secure backyard and a desire for snuggles, licks and forever friendship are all you’ll need to qualify for pups like Muck and his siblings. Come and see their squishy faces pressed against the door at our shelter in Weston.

Cats of the Week: Homer and Carl

Homer and Carl are what we call a ‘bonded pair’. They’re siblings who have been there for each other when all the chips fell over and all the other cats ate the scraps. Carl already loves pats and snuggles, and he’s showing Homer that trusting people has its rewards!

These two can only be adopted together. In fact, as a bonded pair, they will thrive together and become better cats, companions and pets. Carl himself has already matured into a sociable cat, and we’re confident Homer will do the same.

They’re Domestic Short Hairs, about one-and-a-half years of age and desperate for home life. Hanging out together in the RSPCA ACT cattery isn’t the lifestyle they need. They love their food and will need a patient owner to pamper them while they adjust to their new surroundings.

Drop by our shelter today (we currently have several bonded pairs of cats looking for their furever homes). We’re sure there’s at least one kitty here who’s just perfect for your home.

Paw note: In recent weeks, we’ve seen several of our long-term resident animals adopted, including dogs Loca, Yoda and Dawn, and cats Pudda and Faye. Thank you, Canberra!

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
