Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Lena and Gerard are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the Week – Lena

Pocket rocket Lena is a lively Kelpie looking to burst out of the shelter and race into a new life! Lena is a young girl who can be very sweet and affectionate, but she certainly has lots of energy to burn. This energetic lady would ideally suit an active family with plenty of time to devote to exercise and training. Her delightful, classic kelpie pointed ears are ready to listen and learn!

Lena gets on well with other dogs and would be well-matched with an older male brother to run and play with. We recommend Lena live with a family with children aged 10 years and older. All interactions between dogs and children should be actively monitored.

If you’re looking for a companion to explore Canberra’s trails, paths and dog parks with, Lena will make a great buddy. Lively and clever, she will be a rewarding new addition to the right family.

Gerard

Curious Gerard is ready to curl up in a new owner’s lap.

Cat of the Week – Gerard

Gerard first came to the cattery in 2017 as a stray in need of love and medical attention. With the dedication and care of our staff, he was able to be adopted out and he’s spent the last couple of years in a quiet home. Unfortunately, due to a change of circumstance, Gerard was surrendered to the shelter. While we’re sad to see Gerard back, he’s a much happier boy than the first-time around!

Gerard is a very relaxed cat who loves to curl up in your lap and get lots of scratches and pats. Beautifully mellow and calm, he is a real go-with-the-flow kind of cat. Because of his lovely nature, Gerard would make an affectionate companion in a family with children, and would certainly appreciate play and enrichment time with them.

Of course, like all cats, Gerard likes his alone time as well and needs a tranquil retreat spot so he can cosy up and relax.

While his gentle and cuddly temperament makes him an ideal candidate to live with people, Gerard definitely wants to be the only animal in the home – he hates sharing the attention!

The lucky family that welcomes Gerard needs to be aware that he is a special needs cat with FIV, so he will need to remain safe and snug indoors away from other cats.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
