Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!
Percy and the Swimmer Fish are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.
Fish of the Week – Thorpe, Trickett, Perkins, Fraser and Gould
Meet the Australian swimmer fish currently calling RSPCA ACT home! These five beautiful goldfish are not your average size, which unfortunately led to them being surrendered to the shelter after they outgrew all of their tanks. And now, these beautiful giants are looking for their forever home.
Thorpe, Trickett, Perkins, Fraser and Gould are a little bigger than their photos suggest, with each fish being around the size of a human hand. They have all lived together for an incredible amount of time, approximately eight years, and are looking for a large and spacious new home all together.
These friendly fish would be best suited to a large outdoor pond; however, they could enjoy a large fish tank as long as they are the only fish. These guys would likely eat or attack any other/smaller fish. It’s extremely important their new tank be over 1.8 metres in length and at least 1 metre in depth. Photos must be shown to our staff prior to adoption.
If interested in adopting, please make sure you bring along your own mode of transport to get these guys from the shelter to their new home.
Dog of the Week – Percy
Percy is a sweet boy who loves to spend his time out on daily walks with our volunteers and any opportunity to stretch his legs for a good run. Percy is very playful with friendly humans he knows and absolutely loves a good scratch along his back.
Percy has some experience with children and got on well with them in his previous home, but it’s still important to monitor all interactions between dogs and children to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both parties.
Percy has some understanding of his basic dog manners but on some occasions struggles to show this in the shelter environment. Here at the shelter, we’ve learnt that Percy doesn’t really get along with other dogs, so would prefer to be the only dog in his new home. A place where his human is often at home is also preferable.
Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
