Dear,

Recently, I wrote to you to say thank you for your support during the recent election. With the ACT Greens again holding the balance of power in the Assembly, and the first Greens Minister in a minority government, the Canberra of the future will be cleaner, smarter and Greener place.

This is thanks to the hard work and generosity of people like you.

I’m really proud of the work we did on the election this year – our team ran a professional and honest campaign, working to put forward a vision of a healthier, more liveable and better connected Canberra.

We now turn our attention to the federal election in 2013 and there is no doubt this will be a challenge for us.

We need to rebuild our resources following the ACT election and prepare for the federal campaign ahead.

Your gift will help us to hit the ground running in 2013.

Last federal election, 1.6 million people voted Green. Our research to date indicates that 2 million votes across the country next election are achievable.

To help us reach this goal, we’ve set a national fundraising target of $3 million. Now is the time to start building this capacity to take on the old parties in 2013.

Please join me in building our federal election campaign fund by sending your generous gift today.

With very best wishes for the festive season and a happy and green new year.

Yours sincerely,

Shane Rattenbury, ACT Greens MLA
Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Corrections, Housing, Ageing and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs

P.S: Thank you so much for all of your support during the ACT election. With a federal election on the horizon, we appreciate your gift before December 20 to help us hit the ground running in 2013. Thank you!

Gee I hope that Shane had clocked off his ACT Goverment timesheets when he wrote this email. Surely he is not campaigning for the federal election on ACT tax payer time.

Boasting about holding power

Are you saying they don’t hold the balance of power?

despite having your @rse kicked

Are you saying that he wasn’t elected?

and your policies rejected

Are those the same Greens’ policies whose implementation was a condition of forming a minority government?

Maybe you can buy some special ointment for all that butthurt.

Nicely done WMC.

You have taken my words, and somehow converted/twisted/lied about them into things they don’t mean. I take it you are a greenie then, that’s rather typical of the way they work and think.

Have you no morals?

Fact; The only reason the one remaining Green “holds power” is due to the equal distribution of Lib and Lab seats. It has nothing to do with the Canberra electorate wanting them to hold power, quite the contrary.

Fact: the Greens lost 3 out of 4 of their seats, a rejection by the Canberra electorate of their candidates and policies. Not to forget that Ratters only got in by the skin of his teeth. The Greens were totally rejected by the Canberra electorate.

Now try dealing with what I write, and not lying. Or rather, carry on as you have been, you’re only hammering more nails into the greenies recyclable cardboard coffin by showing them up as frauds who take ; “Boasting about holing power” and try to magic it into reading “you do not hold power”.

I didn’t know that donations to a political party were tax deductible.

That just doesn’t seem right, even with the low maximum allowed.

They are not charities.

Who makes the rules? Oh that’s right…

Shane, if you really believe there will be a huge swing to The Greens in the federal election I have a Harbour Bridge (or a Telstra Tower) to sell you.

I’ll see your Bridge and Tower and raise you my Ayer’s Rock…

Well you really have raised the bar!

Shane, we told you to get stuffed at the election.

Boasting about holding power, despite having your @rse kicked and your policies rejected, is not the way to gain $3,000,000.

Fair enough. My bad. Quite happy about that actually.
Still, he could do without the extra $60K a year he’s milking on the cross bench.

That’s about the same as an SES 1.2 IIRC

#wouldyoulikefactswiththat?

$212,000 a year, for four years, which equals…?

Salary is conventionally described per annum.

If you’re not using conventional terms then best to define them.

I’m sure he could make a healthy contribution out of the ridiculous $800K he’s making by being a minister on the cross-bench. Does anyone seriously think we are getting any value for our money out of this clown?

I wouldn’t mind a 25 member assembly as long as everyone takes a commensurate pay cut. There’s no way these trumped up councilers are worth what they are getting!

no, he couldn’t be on $800k? Please tell me that’s not true.
