Andrew Landeryou tipped us off to an SMH story on biffo in the Holy Grail on budget night when the former Minister Peter Slipper allegedly refused to stub out his cigarette inside and an enraged punter took justice into his own hands.
The man, whose behaviour at times appeared to be erratic, said he asked Mr Slipper to extinguish a cigarette inside the bar and the MP refused, so he had decided to act.
Mr Slipper maintained that he had fully intended to stub out the cigarette. It is unlawful in Canberra to smoke anywhere in licensed premises.
The Herald Sun is also on the story.
