ACT Policing is seeking witnesses in relation to an incident which involved an ACTION bus driver in Palmerston late last night.
Around 9:25pm last night (Thursday, 4 August) a boy approached a stationary ACTION bus on Kosciuszko Avenue, Palmerston and asked the driver if the bus was travelling to Belconnen. The driver told the boy that the bus wasn’t scheduled to travel to Belconnen, after which time the boy produced what appeared to be a replica firearm and demanded money.
The bus driver closed the doors of the bus. The boy fled the area, and was last seen running towards the Palmerston shops.
The bus later left the area and undertook its scheduled route.
Police were notified of the incident a short time later, and the driver spoke to police at the City Bus Interchange.
The boy is described as Caucasian, around 12 to 14 years of age, wearing a light coloured ‘hoodie’ and dark tracksuit pants.
Police would urge any witnesses to come forward who saw the incident or a youth matching the description in the vicinity of Kosciuszko Avenue around 9:25pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Just go to the Gold Creek school and see what is being bred, I have never seen such a bunch of unintellegent, illmannered and disrespectful children.
12!!!!!! When I was 12 I would have never gvne consideration to having a gun and thusly trying to steal money from parked bus, much less be on the streets at 9.30 at night by myself. Serioulsy where are the parents of these little A…holes? And we all know if he does get caught, he’ll claim he was abused, neglected and poor and he’ll get a hand slap and told to run along. I’m with Thumper on this one.
Wonder how long until he graduates to a baseball bat and machete?
Wonder how long it is until someone looks at him and says, “mate, you’re 12.” Then proceeds to beat him to a pulp.

Ahh, Belconnen. So many memories ..

I was at the counter in the dark and noisy Intencity amusement parlour in Belco mall a couple of years ago waiting for my kids to redeem their tickets for lollies. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a young clown next to me pull a small shiny handgun out of his pocket and start to point it into the air as though he was about to fire a warning shot.
I had about 674 thoughts go through my head in one second as I considered all the options open to me. Luckily that second of “WTFT do I do now” prevented me from doing something like breaking his arm or neck, because it turned out the gun was fake and he was only trying to wind up someone in the queue at the counter. Don’t ask me what kind of person gets his jollies by pretending to pull an armed rob on his mates, because that would be another story.
Anyway, I have wide experience with firearms, and in a dark place with limited visibility this thing looked pretty real to me. Not all toy guns come with orange plastic caps in the muzzle.
This is what happens when low breeds breed.
I wonder if this kid was part of the low lives who beat up an off-duty Police Officer at Palmerston Shops last year after he stepped & told them to stop assaulting another elderly person?

The orange cap on the end of the gun probably gave it away……….
The feral kids in Palmerston these days are shocking, I have already got a few in mind who could be idiotic enough to try pull a stunt like this.
I agree with LSWCHP, thats one cool bus driver!

I think Jethro’s point is not the spelling of the plural, but the fact that the plural was used at all. In the story only one bus is referenced. The same thing occurred to me.
Jethro, the plural of bus is buses in Oz or British English. Gases is another example.
Why the plural ‘buses’ in the title?
