ACT Policing is seeking witnesses in relation to an incident which involved an ACTION bus driver in Palmerston late last night.
Around 9:25pm last night (Thursday, 4 August) a boy approached a stationary ACTION bus on Kosciuszko Avenue, Palmerston and asked the driver if the bus was travelling to Belconnen. The driver told the boy that the bus wasn’t scheduled to travel to Belconnen, after which time the boy produced what appeared to be a replica firearm and demanded money.
The bus driver closed the doors of the bus. The boy fled the area, and was last seen running towards the Palmerston shops.
The bus later left the area and undertook its scheduled route.
Police were notified of the incident a short time later, and the driver spoke to police at the City Bus Interchange.
The boy is described as Caucasian, around 12 to 14 years of age, wearing a light coloured ‘hoodie’ and dark tracksuit pants.
Police would urge any witnesses to come forward who saw the incident or a youth matching the description in the vicinity of Kosciuszko Avenue around 9:25pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
