ACT Policing has seized a double barrel shotgun and a handgun following the execution of a search warrant yesterday morning (Wednesday, May 8).

Members from ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations executed two search warrants on homes in Casey and Chisholm.

Police seized the firearms along with ammunition, a laser pointer and drugs suspected to be steroids from a house in Casey.
A 28-year-old man will be summonsed to attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with offences relating to the seized items.

A woman will be summonsed at a later date following the execution of the search warrant at a home in Chisholm.
Police located a small amount of fireworks, along with ammunition and some heroin. The woman will be summonsed in relation to the drug offence.

I’ve jumped through all the many hoops necessary to legally own and use my firearms, so I’d like to think the owners of these pieces will spend a long, long time in the slammer, or even a short time, but I’m not so sure that will happen.

Nobody owns an illegal firearm because they’re filled with good intentions. The owners of these guns are evildoers, and they should be punished severely.
