Here it is, Canberran comrades: The RiotACT Gig Guide for the 27th of September to the 3rd of October!

Taken by myself this week is a photo of Betty Alto, a smooth jazzy pop band who will be opening for Los Labios at Transit Bar on Wednesday from 7.30 pm. We have had them play at the 2XX LocalnLive Bootlegs not too long ago, and were totally sensational, so check them out!

You will also notice in this photo the famous Glitoris logo – it just so happens that Glitoris are also playing this week, opening for Shonen Knife who are coming all the way from the Land of the Rising Sun. It is a show that’s got everyone’s tongues wagging, and sure to be an absolute stunner; DJ Loz is positively giddy with excitement!

There is a stack of other shows this week, including Kallidad who will be bringing their trash flamingo sound to Smith’s Alternative this Thursday to launch their new LP ‘The Odyssey’. With the help of DIY collective Mulgara, Jim Dusty will be launching the ‘Taking Inventory’ EP with the help of Dog Name, H. and Boots Byers at Macleay’s Farm this Friday. Friday night will also see Reload Bar hosting Reload Roxx, a night dedicated to female rock legends to raise money for Love Your Sister. Saturday includes Rufino and the Coconuts show ‘Call of the Wild’ take to the stage at the Polish White Eagle Club, and another big name in Andrew Jackson Jihad, now AJJ, playing the Transit with Antonia & The Lazy Susans and Helena Pop.

So if you’re looking for some respite this football final weekend, just check out the list below! Up the Tigers!
