The Liberals’s Brendan Smyth and Nicole Lawder are asking what’s going on the the Lower Louvre (aks the Tuggeranong Arts Centre):

Tuggeranong Community Arts is facing a crisis as the Association which runs the centre prepares for an emergency meeting requested by members, where the Board of Management could face the sack, Shadow Minister for Arts Brendan Smyth said today.

“I’m calling on Joy Burch to investigate the issues and assure the Legislative Assembly that the community’s funding of TCA and its other responsibilities are protected,” Mr Smyth said.

“The meeting has been called by concerned members of the Association to question the current board over the appointment of its new chief executive and the departure of two long serving staff members,” Mr Smyth concluded.

“There is the potential for two unfair dismissal claims while questions have also been raised about the finances of the organisation,” Member for Brindabella Nicole Lawder said.

“The Tuggeranong Arts Centre is a cherished asset, not just of Tuggeranong, but the entire Canberra community. Any controversy over its standard of management is a major concern,” Ms Lawder concluded.

Might be over-egging the arts centre pudding with that last par.
