Actually calling the Legislative Assembly, “the council” or “the shire council” is the sign of a true Canberran.

A true Canberran uses these terms with a sneer to let the ACT government know that they are simply nothing more than a glorified shire council (and a very inept one at that) and that they should get over their delusions of grandeur.

Go to Eden, Wallaga, Bermagui or Tathra (or if it is more than a weekend go to Mallacoota or Gipsy Point) all beautiful places without the craptasticness of the Bay. I grew up on the South Coast (Ulladulla) and we stayed away from Batemans Bay as much as possible.

I also highly recommended camping in the Snowy Mountains at Blue Waterholes or Long Plain if you are looking to get out fo Canberra for a weekend.

I went to Blue Waterholes with some mates last year, and we were the only ones there. A truly fantastic place. Beats BB hands down.

Well, yeah, there are beaches. But the bloody water is so cold for 364 days of the year that even (male) polar bears develop clenched scrotums when they go in the water. Female polar bears do the female equivalent.

There is more than one who thinks we are part of NSW council system – way to show you aren’t a true Canberran! Ah the Bay – spoilt tourist spot providing Canberra’s beach therapy – personally I keep going a little further south where it is a little more like the original south coast instead of a mini Canberra (especially in December holidays!)
