Mayor Rattenbury is calling for tenders to provide MyWay reloading around town:

“These ten additional MyWay reload providers will increase access to MyWay facilities for bus patrons, which is all part of making ACTION a more convenient and accessible service for Canberrans,” said Mr Rattenbury.

“The new recharge agents will expand the reload provider network to sites in proximity to major bus stops and shopping centres, making it even easier for people to purchase and top up their MyWay cards.

“We’ve identified key areas for the new MyWay reload services including City Bus Station, City West, City East, Kambah Village, Calwell Centre, Chisholm Village, Kingston Shopping Centre, Fyshwick, Kippax Centre, and Kaleen Village.

“Eligible businesses must have established premises in one of the key areas. Interested and eligible businesses are encouraged to put forward a submission to help deliver this important service to the Canberra community.

Why only 10?

Wouldn’t it be better to have a many agents as possible in as many places as possible?

Because that’s how many have been budgeted for. (See ACT Budget Paper No. 3 page 175) Each new MyWay agent terminal costs $10,000, which the Government will pay for.

Civic needs one. was in civic on Saturday at 12.30 and couldn’t recharge my card no where available had to purchase a new card. Ok for now but what about in 2 weeks when they start charging $5.00 for a new card. So my $20.00 myway card will then cost me $25.00. Hopefully new agents before then.

I don’t understand why these are so scarce. In Melbourne pretty much every corner store or newsagent sells the myki things.

Calwell residents signed and submitted a petition to get one of these machiens down at the Calwell newsagent nearly a year ago. And NOW you have identified that Calwell is a key area for the reload service? Better late than never, I guess.

Is someone able to tell me why certain business must supply this service? Obviously it is a benefit to them but why should they HAVE to do it?

It does not say that. It just says that eligible businesses must already be operating and running, and located within in one of the key areas. Basically, do not apply if you are just ‘planning’ to open a business in one of these areas.

Ahhh my mistake. I totally misread that

I dont think it says that does it? looks like no one has to do it, but if you’re in a certain area you can apply.

Hope someone at Kippax asks for one. I find it incredible that such a large group centre doesn’t currently have a Myway agent, the closest being Charnwood or Belconnen. More so when the park and ride opens.
