Woman in her 80s dies with COVID-19 as ACT records 975 new cases

The ACT has recorded 975 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday, including 550 identified by PCR and 425 by rapid-antigen tests (RAT).

ACT Health has been notified of the death of a woman in her 80s with the virus.

There are now 55 people in hospital, including 2 in intensive care. No one is currently receiving ventilation for the virus.

Since the pandemic began, 98,760 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the ACT.

The double-dose vaccination rate for the ACT’s five-plus population remains 96.8 per cent, and 74.8 per cent of residents aged 16 and older have now received a booster.

Of ACT residents aged five to 11, 63.2 per cent have received two doses of vaccine.

Interstate, NSW has reported 16 deaths overnight and 12,633 new cases of COVID-19.

Victoria has reported 13 deaths overnight and an additional 8,120 cases of COVID-19.
