The You Are Here festival kicks off on 10 March and to help you find your way around it the team have pushed up a Google Map of the many and varied venues that will be taking part in the celebrations.
So at least you won’t get lost.

I love how the giant SmithDick textbox takes up most of the map and you have to fumble in the top right corner to locate the little X that closes it. Also I love that our festival HQ is marked in green.

So, one of You Are Here’s key venues is The Mall – this is our visual arts hub, which You Are Here Visual Arts Commander Yolande Norris has stuffed full of exhibitions and pop-up shops by the Here and There Collective, Lee Grant, LUUK and Re-Loved Creations. The Mall is located in a vacant Canberra Centre shopfront on City Walk, between the fountain and Akuna Street – you can find it on the map just there at the bottom right of the glowing blue path.
Anyway, when we went in to check out the space a couple of weeks ago, I noticed for the first time the skateboard stencils on the walls. The rumour is that in between NRMA and You Are Here, some good-old-fashioned art-skate-deviants got hold of the space for a graf and stencil art exhibition. What I want to know is: has anyone else heard of this? was anyone there? what and when and who and was it any good?
