2008 Australian Footbag Championships to be held in Canberra

Australia’s best footbag players will gather in Canberra next Easter for the annual Australian Championships. The sport of Footbag involves performing a number of various tricks with a small back. It is often known as “Hacky Sack”, which was an early brand name of footbags.

Current Australian champion Dan Ednie will be a highlight of the event, having won this year’s event in Hobart, then proceeding to be the first Australian to make the finals of the World Championships. Dan also appeared on the Channel 7 television program “Australia’s Got Talent”.

The players will perform in a number of events, with the main events being

  • Routines- players perform to music for two minutes
  • Shred 30- Players try to score as many points as possible in 30 seconds
  • Sick 3- Players link there best combination of three tricks

Some of Australia’s other top players attending the event will include Jeremy O’Wheel (Tas), Ian Pritchard (NSW), Alex Urano (Vic) and the ACT’s Daniel Boyle.
