You’re acting like a burnout is like burning people at the stake, … its not like he was belting through a school zone at 180kph (which wouldn’t get your car crushed)

One guy chucking hoops isnt going to make the world implode ffs. …. I dont have kids, but if he crashed into my car, thats why I have insurance.

Well, he’s a 20 year old tosser. And he was drunk. While he was drunk he engaged in dangerous behavior on the road. While doing this dangerous drunken young tosser stuff, he was also unlicensed, and hence he was uninsured so that if he injured a third party it’s their tuff shit.

I don’t want dangerous drunken young unlicenced tossers with no self control on the road with me. Such people are a threat to me and my wife and my kids, and all the other decent normal people in Canberra. So if the state chose to impound and destroy his vehicle, I’d be in the enormous crowd with CGN cheering them on.

And if you think the property rights of arsehats like this take precedence over the wellbeing of the rest of the community, then I reckon you should spend a long time reflecting on how you’d feel if that bloke had lost control of his vehicle and, for example, crashed into you and killed your baby son while doing his stupid senseless bloody burnout.

The second one I will grant you (outside chance though it might be), but given that there’s separate fines/sentencing involved, if the ex-owner is willing to then also pay market price to rebuy their car, is that such a bad thing? It effectively throws in another fine equivalent to the cost of the car. That sounds like a great thing to me.

That sounds like a good idea, but it depends on what your aiming to achieve with the whole exercise.

If you just want to impose a financial penalty, then it’s great. But if you’re looking to impose a deeper, more personal penalty, you can’t beat turning their pride and joy into a cube. Knowing that their beloved car is gone forever might just sink in.

The crushing thing is symbolic – for these microencephalatic dickheads, their car is (possibly the major) part of their identity. I think that they should be made to watch the crushing, just to get the point across. These guys are not rocket surgeons – the subtle approach is wasted on them.

auction them all off, not just the roadworthy ones I would love to buy a cheap illegally modified car that is unfit for road use instead of buying stat writeoffs at auctions to build my speedway cars out of.

This from 2010. There was a halt to proceedings but a few days ago the SA govt gave the go ahead to crush cars after a court decision. Better believe that thought process.

And as for…..”As the holder of an expired licence he was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice (ISN).”

I interpret this to mean that because he was officially prohibited from driving (due to having an expired licence), he has now been given an ISN which means he is officially prohibited from driving.

I imagine that after receiving the ISN, he went back to his car, hopped in and drove off because that’s what these idiots do. And in a few months time he’ll be picked up again for doing burnouts while drunk unlicenced and suspended.
