An Audi station wagon surrendered by its female owner to a man threatening her with a shotgun in the Canberra Theatre carpark on Tuesday afternoon has since been used in a retail hold-up at Fyshwick and discovered ablaze in Gungahlin.
Police responded to a report of a vehicle fire in Carver Lane early yesterday morning and found the white Audi Q5 station wagon bearing ACT registration YJO-43U alight upon their arrival at the scene.

About 4.30pm on Tuesday, ACT Policing received a report that a male offender had approached staff at the Australia Post store in Townsville Street, Fyshwick. He was armed with a shot gun and made threatening demands for cash. The staff complied and the offender fled the scene.
At about 2.50pm that day ACT Policing had received the first report relating to the matter, that a male offender armed with a shot gun approached a woman in the Canberra Theatre carpark on London Circuit in the City and demanded she give him the car.
The woman complied and the offender fled in the stolen car.
Police are undergoing extensive searches for the offender who is described as Caucasian in appearance, with blue eyes and about 180cm (5’11”) tall.
He was wearing black tracksuit pants with white stripes, a navy football jumper and black balaclava on Tuesday.
