Debuting in 2018 with her single release ‘Tyro Dreamer’ Groovy Daughter has quickly given herself a name in the Canberra music scene Her unique dreamy pop sound and breathtaking storytelling gained the attention of Australian rapper Citizen Kay, landing her a place on the Canberra 2019 “Groovin the Moo” lineup.

Groovy Daughter’s raw and powerful ambient pop sounds have a haunting and magical quality to them. Her songs are written from the deep and dark parts of her brain, exploring the topic of mental illness and shining an inside light on the matter. Her lyrics pose questions and give a greater understanding on the struggles faced living alongside mental illness.

Groovy Daughter isn’t afraid to speak up and share her stories, because if we don’t try and let people understand. How do we let them help? She finds inspiration comes from Film Scores, Composer like Hans Zimmer and Kyle Dixon give her an overwhelming amount of emotion and inspiration when she listens to their pieces, as we do when we listen to hers.

Reboot is a plea, from the deepest parts of our brain. It describes the desperation of wanting to just restart. Reboot a mind that’s been infected. It’s About the struggle to find balance in life, overcompensating for black moods, not quite portraying happiness and excitement in a natural way. The idea for reboot cake from a line in the movie shutter islander island.

“I was taken aback by how accurate it depicted what it felt like to slip into the depths of mental illness.”
