Nein’s coverage is so bad that I’d like to boycott their advertisers (and let both Nein and them know I’m doing it, of course). Does anyone…
a) Know where I can find a list of Nein advertisers, and
b) Want to join in?

I will definitely be watching the game at the RUC this Sunday. I always receive excellent service and the staff are always friendly. I would suspect that the person above is never satisfied where ever he goes. It’s a sad reflection on him not the club

The Ruc would have suited us very well… we needed somewhere that serves good, club food (tick), close to home (tick), civilised (tick). We tried it on two separate occasions, during winter, when the main area was not full, and the time it took for our food to arrive from ordering was, frankly, unacceptable.

It was fish, schnitzls etc, nothing tricky or fancy, and from memory it was about 45 minutes (or more, thinking back). After the first time we thought it was a one-off, and since we really wanted to use the club, tried again. Identical experience. This was, I think, last winter.

If you guys weren’t aware that it was taking ages for meals to leave the kitchen, I’m not confident that bailing you up and telling you would get much of a welcoming response, to be honest. Most customers don’t like doing that, as the response is seldom very positive. Most people quietly go away and don’t come back.

It’s nice to hear things have improved, but if you guys weren’t aware that food service was routinely slow, I have to wonder about that.

We really wanted to use the Ruc. One of our party even joined, but never bothered to pick up the membership card as by that time we’d concluded that for quiet weekday dinners, it wasn’t going to work.

Thanks for the offer to shout us a feed, but we’re not after freebies. Maybe I can convince the others to try the Ruc again.

Fair enough. I just remembered your run in with a tight shirt boofhead and made an assumption!

I went to RUC for the Bledisloe and had a wicked night (partially down the Wallabies winning and liberal amounts of beer). There was more atmosphere there than some of the bigger clubs could ever offer.

All Bar Nun have an OK “tonker” cricket team, although they are not quite as good as THE RATS!!!

This is why I’m so glad SBS does the football (soccer) World Cup. I hope they have the rights to the next one, because you actually get to see all the matches.

All Bar Nun are showing WC matches, including the opening ceremony. I know it’s not your favourite place JB, but maybe worth a shot.

We’ve managed to book a table for 10 on friday night in good view of the telly.

I love the RUC. Great place to watch the games and the steak (ribeye on the bone) is one of the best I have had anywhere. I work one building away and always find the service to be awesome. Canberra hospitality staff are notoriously crap but not at the RUC that’s why we all go there. You may have gone on an off night, everybody has those 😉

We were there mid-week, in winter! Place was practically deserted, and still it took forever for the food to come. It was ridiculous. And such a shame, as in every other way, the club suited us very well. But we haven’t been back after the second time.

Food is a much better than it was 5 years ago, am a semi- regular there and the time taken to get served does blow out badly if you go on a Friday..Although this is nothing compared to the frustration of trying to order a drink when 30 people are waiting and two people are serving..As a worker in the biggest building by far near the RUC, a lot of colleagues are thinking twice before wandering down for a Friday coldie..

Depending on how much you’d eat and drink during a match (the RUC ain’t cheap) – the basic sports package on Foxtel might be cheaper!

I know for a fact that The RUC in Barton (the ACT Rugby Union Club – 51 Blackall St) will be showing all the matches with stadium sound and will be open every Sunday for the duration of the RWC

Mean to say that the standout games that are being missed this weekend are (IMO)

South Africa v Wales (Sun 11th, 6.30pm)
Fiji v Namibia (Sat, 1.30pm)

The first match because it involves a potential finalist (RSA) and there might be an upset.

The second because Fiji are fantastic to watch when they are in full flight, and they rarely achieve that against the top teams who strangle their flow of possession.

You’d think they could have at least popped it on Gem, instead of ‘Farmer wants a wife’.

The priority to the NRL is what has forced me over to Fox for the duration of the world cup. Free install, no contract length, just a compulsory upgrade to IQ and the ‘full package’ for your first month.

Selling the rights to 9 was an utter fail.
