Canberra’s first regional week long celebration, Woden Alive, will see the Woden Valley community and everything it has to offer on display from Oct 30 – Nov 5. Woden Alive is an exciting new initiative that takes place at various venues and businesses throughout the Woden Valley and climaxes at the Woden Valley Festival on Saturday November 5.
The Week of ‘Woden Alive’ will offer Canberrans a deeper look at the Woden Valley’s best venues and help unearth some of the regions ‘hidden gems’ . It will feature some of Australia’s most well known celebrities alongside some great community grassroots events. Feature events include ‘Homemade Jam’ a singer / songwriter competition at Bite to Eat, George Calombaris from ‘Masterchef’ hosting a dinner at the Hellenic Club, Local circus troupe ‘Warehouse Circus’ performing their yearly performance spectacular at the Chifley Well being hub, as well as ‘So you think you can dance’ finalist Timomatic performing at the Hellenic Club for a special live performance. These are just some of the many events that are happening in the week of Woden Alive.
Another highlight of the week will be the annual Woden Valley Festival. In 2011 the Festival will feature nationally renowned band April Maze playing alongside locals Bridge Between and Minh Ha. There will also be dance and cultural performers, rides, interactive workshops, the ususal yummy food plus a variety of themed villages on display!
