The Hoot is here and this week Ross Solly and Genevieve Jacobs range widely across what’s wrong with our criminal justice system, when sports stars get it right and a classic case of criminal misadventure involving a cheesecake and a very unusual hiding place for a set of ute keys.

Ross is a rusted-on Geelong supporter and was beside himself with excitement when the Cats picked up the premiership. Captain Joel Selwood’s behaviour on and off the field made the victory even sweeter.

It was in stark contrast to the chaos we sometimes see from homegrown sports stars like Nick Kyrgios, but also a reminder that sometimes sports stars do get it right.

That was a hoot. We have the highest recidivism rate in the country, so Riotact should be asking why. This government claims to be the most progressive in the country, so why are the outcomes far below their promises?
The latest Productivity Commission report on Corrective Services shows-
The ACT has close to the highest level of prisoner employment, indigenous 86.6%, non-indigenous 87.8%.
The ACT has by far the highest % of prisoners participating in education services, at 68.5%.
The ACT has the highest cost, at $528.57 per prisoner per day. It’s $288.43 in SA.
