A 37-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of his partner during an alleged incident last year.
Police said they were called to a Reid unit complex on 9 September 2022 as paramedics treated a 36-year-old woman who had “suffered a number of injuries” to her body.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial investigations were unable to identify a clear cause of death. However, police said later information indicated the woman died as a result of blunt force trauma.
A murder investigation was launched, which led to the man being charged with one count of murder on Thursday (2 February).
He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (3 February).
Police alleged the man and woman were in a relationship, which means the matter is considered an act of family violence.
ACT Policing said due to the nature of the investigation, it was not appropriate to release information about the alleged incident before now.
If you or someone you know has been affected by family violence, you can report it to police by attending a police station or calling 131 444. You can also access a range of support services.
