An Aussie musician is sure to chase away the end of summer blues during his upcoming tour that includes regional New South Wales and Canberra.
Alternative singer-songwriter Matt Katsis said he was keen to set off on his tour.
“I’ll be sort of heading north and south and then back north!
“We tried to make it work as logistically as possible, but that doesn’t always work out perfectly, but that’s part of the fun, too, of seeing new places and meeting new people and playing music to people that otherwise I haven’t been able to introduce my music to,” he said.
The tour will open on 3 March in Wangaratta and come to a close on 12 May in Mornington.
In the coming weeks, he will perform at more than ten venues located in the Canberra area and regional parts of New South Wales, as well as parts of other states.
“A lot of these venues on the South Coast are venues I’ll be playing for the first time.”
Music fans will see Mr Katsis perform as a one-man roots and folk band, balancing playing a kick drum, a tambourine and a guitar with his singing.
Some of the gigs will feature support acts, he said.
“Where I can, I’m trying to get some friends onboard that live nearby and don’t have to travel too far, that kind of thing.”
In the midst of playing the venues in places such as Major’s Creek, Moruya, Kingston, Tomakin, Boorowa and Tumut, Mr Katsis will also be taking to the stage at the Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival in March and releasing new music.
Mr Katsis said he worked with his tour director, Greg Campbell, to prepare the tour.
“It’s just been really good to have someone on the team to go into bat for you and bring you new opportunities – and one of them was the Kiama Jazz and Blues Fest, and then we were able to piece together a couple of weeks either side of that.”
If this tour is successful, there is the possibility of future shows.
“Hopefully, I can come back to New South Wales later in the year, as well; if we can make that work, that would be even better.”
