It is alleged a north Canberra newsagent was robbed by two teenagers wielding a knife and an axe, who stole cash before running from the scene.
ACT Policing allege two boys, aged 15 and 14, went to the business at the Charnwood shops at about 4 pm on Saturday (7 October) where they brandished a knife and an axe and threatened staff.
While no one was injured during the alleged robbery, the teens allegedly ran from the scene with a sum of cash.
Officers arrived and arrested the two teenagers a short time later, allegedly after a chase on foot.
The teens, who were both already on bail over other alleged offences, were charged with joint commission aggravated robbery and breach of bail and have been scheduled to face the ACT Children’s Court on Monday (9 October).
The 14-year-old will also face burglary charges over an alleged home burglary that occurred in September in Flynn.
“Anyone who witnessed this incident who has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward,” ACT Policing alleged.
“Police also ask that people who live near the Charnwood shops check their properties for items, such as clothing or weapons, that could be related to the robbery.”
