Maybe ASIO already have the photos as they could easily have been the ones doing the stealing. Either that or a North Korean agent getting photos they didn’t want leaving the country.

All sounds a bit suss. Nothing else stolen or even disturbed, like someone knew what they were looking for… I’d say your camera and photos have been incinerated.

The moral is never leave memory cards with or in the camera, and never leave images on memory cards longer than is necessary.

It sucks when this kind of thing happens, but it sucks even more when it’s so easily avoidable.

That sucks, good luck in getting it back. Probably check eBay for the next few weeks just in case the thief is really stupid (I don’t think we have a Cash Converters anymore?).

I was burgled at the same time, early evening, after heading out for a bike ride in the evening. In winter when it gets dark early this is common, thieves probably watch people leave and then go for the quick smash and grab… so even if you’re ducking out for a quick shop in the evening, make sure you lock up and lock up properly.

Once someone starts using your camera, any photos uploaded to the net are scanned, and their EXIF data is compared to that which you have registered on the site. You are then able to see where and when the camera was last used. People have successfully gone to the police with this info and recovered their cameras.
