G’day Everyone.

I live in Spence and was Burgled lastnight between 6pm and Midnight. Nothing in the house was disturbed or stolen other than a Nikon D3100 Camera and an Asus E52XF laptop.

I had recently returned from Pyongyang for the 100th Birthday Celebrations of the Eternal President and had over 1500 photos and videos of my visit.

Im not overly fussed about the loss of the camera and laptop as they are insured. However, i am very much annoyed at the loss of priceless unique photos.

The camera was in a black camera bag that had Nikon and a large letter D on the middle of it. The 32gb Blue Verbatim flash card was in a side pocket.

I know the likelyhood of getting the photos back are zero. However, in the likelyhood someone finds the camera and/or photos I would be grateful if you contact me. I am offering $100 and a small gift obtained in Pyongyang as a reward for recovery of the photos.

Cheers.

Actually, if he doesn’t get the camera back by Monday, he’ll have to tell his boss at ASIO that he’s lost all that priceless intel.

Maybe ASIO already have the photos as they could easily have been the ones doing the stealing. Either that or a North Korean agent getting photos they didn’t want leaving the country.

All sounds a bit suss. Nothing else stolen or even disturbed, like someone knew what they were looking for… I’d say your camera and photos have been incinerated.

Interesting that you went to North Korea to observe the rule of a ruthless dictator who cared nothing for the life of his people and then this happened. I believe it’s called ‘karma’.

1. Karma doesn’t exist.

2. You’re a jerk.

My karma ran over my dogma…

The moral is never leave memory cards with or in the camera, and never leave images on memory cards longer than is necessary.

It sucks when this kind of thing happens, but it sucks even more when it’s so easily avoidable.

That sucks, good luck in getting it back. Probably check eBay for the next few weeks just in case the thief is really stupid (I don’t think we have a Cash Converters anymore?).

I was burgled at the same time, early evening, after heading out for a bike ride in the evening. In winter when it gets dark early this is common, thieves probably watch people leave and then go for the quick smash and grab… so even if you’re ducking out for a quick shop in the evening, make sure you lock up and lock up properly.

FFS, he/she is probably a journalist. Don’t be such an insensitive asshat.

Sorry to hear. Hopefully you have the serial numbers etc? I’ve also heard that this website works- http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/

Once someone starts using your camera, any photos uploaded to the net are scanned, and their EXIF data is compared to that which you have registered on the site. You are then able to see where and when the camera was last used. People have successfully gone to the police with this info and recovered their cameras.
