Last night The Greens’ Alan Kerlin (Molonglo) rode his bike down to O’Connor’s Duxton and had a go at our candidate challenge for the 2012 election (Al is also well known in this parish as “Gungahlin Al”).
I’ve been waiting to see a candidate work to a different scale and aside from his towering astronomer Al obliged with a different way of doing things.
Al’s priorities included: Satellite cities, light rail, pedestrian zones, high rise accommodation, stepped density, mixed use zones, green belts, progressive lowering of urban density, buses complementing light rail, backyards not just for millionaires, distinct communities, the bunyip for Gungahlin, a cinema in Gungahlin, shared pedestrian zones, casual surveillance, axe wielding wookies to deal with Joe Hockey, restoration of astronomy on Mount Stromlo, and reduction of inefficient street lighting in Canberra
But don’t take my word for it, he explains all in the video.
The next one, as part of our Green patch, Johnathan Davis (Green for Brindabella) at Tuggeranong’s Ojo in from 6.00pm on Thursday 30 August. The public are both welcome and encouraged to come out and join in the fun.
(Candidates who haven’t slotted themselves in are advised that there will be no candidate challenges after 28 September and we need a week’s notice, so they better get in quick, and should email john@the-riotact.com )
Here’s our nifty calendar, you the public are reminded that you’re very welcome to come along to these things:
