Police seek witnesses to car crash that resulted in death of unborn baby

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a head-on car crash resulted in the death of a seven-month-old unborn baby.

The crash occurred between two vehicles at Parkes Way in Civic at around 1 pm on Saturday (16 November).

An ACT Policing spokesperson said a grey Mazda 3 was travelling along the Glenloch Interchange slip road from Caswell Drive towards Parkes Way when it collided head-on with a maroon Haval station wagon.

“The driver of the Haval, who was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of the collision, was transported to hospital,” the spokesperson said.

“Tragically, the collision resulted in the loss of the driver’s unborn baby.”

Police have been investigating the circumstances of the collision and want to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage of the two cars prior to the collision.

Nine people have died from crashes on the ACT’s roads so far this year.

A 48-year-old woman also died after being hit by a ute at Jerrabomberra on Sunday (17 November).
