AFL Finals on..Prime TV

By MrMagoo - 21 September 2007 8

Interesting how there was such a uproar over TV rights to the AFL and how 7 threw sooo much cash at it, yet they still can’t deliver. Canberra and regional fans of the AFL have to wait for an hour delayed coverage of tonight’s cracker games Pies vs. Cats. Why? Well who knows but thankfully Ch 10 has the GF and we’ll get a decent coverage and not have to put up with Bruce McAvainey

[UPDATED – And Growling Ferret had this to say:]

Tonight’s Collingwood v Geelong game is not live into Canberra. – and fox main event channel will not be showing it at all, as has been the case with EVERY OTHER FRIDAY NIGHT AFL GAME ALL SEASON.

It will be on a 50 minute delay, probably more by the end of the game because of extra ads.

You can leave your ugly message with the AFL on this number. (03) 9643 1999

– and you can give your serve to Prime TV on this number – (02) 6242 3700

Why does this piss me off? Its the biggest game since the 2007 Grand final, it is an absolute sell out. I pay Fox for the ability to watch Friday night games live, and this the biggest of them all for the year is not live except on radio due to the greed of PRIME.

What’s Your opinion?

The decision by the Sydney based programming executives thinking through the coke addled fuzz that we all prefer Better Homes & Gardens is to be expected. As is the the crap ad-laden delayed coverage when it finally came on.

But the real blame lies with that fat fuck Demetriou and his felching friend Anderson for allowing the situation to happen in the first place.

In their eagerness to grab the TV right dollars they, once again, neglect the fans.

I would strongly recommend a call to the AFL number listed above. They are taking all the calls and listing them as to show channel 7 people actually care. Channel 7’s original response has been that it’s not in the best interest of our viewers to have it live. The AFL is trying to show 7 what their fan base thinks. All I can say is that I hope it’s live next year when the Saints win the flag 😀

better than when channel nine had the footy – they would show matches at 4 AM!

7 (Prime) Sport is very poorly managed. Their broadcast of most sports is poor at best. They have mananged to destroy the great V8 Supercar coverage that channel 10 had built up. Its mainly the same team that was at Channel 10. Seven should not have won the coverage when its top goal was to win the AFL rights.
