bike paths ripped up

So the footpath was removed last month (ok so at least a week ago) and surveying work for the new path isn’t going to start til sometime in October? What are Curtin residents sposed to use for the four or so weeks between the path being ripped up and work on the new one being started? Why couldn’t they organise the surveying to start sooner, even possibly before pulling up the old path? Or is that all just too logical?

CURTIN FOOTPATH TO BE REPLACED

Urban Services today announced the footpath in Curtin that was removed for public safety reasons will be replaced by an improved
path linking Jennings Street to North Curtin playing fields.

“The old footpath was removed last month after several complaints about its poor condition and an audit confirming it was beyond repair,” said Urban Services’ Chief Executive Mike Zissler.

“The footpath was poorly constructed in the 1970s – with thin asphalt being laid directly on the natural surface instead of on a base.

“It needed to be removed to help ensure public safety.

“The path also meandered considerably meaning many users simply bypassed large sections of it for a more direct route.

“To ensure residents have improved pedestrian access work will commence this financial year on building a path to connect Jennings Street to the North Curtin playing fields.

“Curtin residents should notice surveying work taking place to map out the path during October.”
