News.com has the story that some lowlife mugged a lady on a pedestrian bridge, only to be caught by a good samaritan soldier who happened to be handy.
Just hope that he (our lad in uniform) was quite handy and gave the crim a reminder to be a bit more patriotic on Anzac Day.
UPDATE: ACT Policing have finally pushed their media release out:
A 30-year-old man has been arrested for aggravated robbery yesterday afternoon (Monday, April 25).
About 4.00pm police responded to a disturbance at a Belconnen Mall car park pedestrian bridge. On arrival police took over custody of a man that had been detained by a member of the public.
The man allegedly approached and threatened a female with a knife before grabbing her handbag and running away. A member of the public responded to the female’s calls for help, after which he tackled the man and detained him until police arrived.
The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Wednesday, April 27).
The member of the public who initially detained the man is a serving member of the Royal Australian Army.
