Ladies, tomorrow is Bright Pink Lipstick Day. It’s a day to have a little fun with our lippy to show support for the Pink Hope organisation.
Pink Hope was established in response to a lack of information, guidance and emotional support for women and their families at risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Pink Hope Founder Krystal Barter became a preventative cancer activist, speaker and author after she discovered her family’s cancer history was due to a gene fault called BRCA1 (the same gene made famous by Angelina Jolie), which can increase the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers.
Krystal created the charity from her hospital bed whilst recovering from her preventative double mastectomy at age 25, after changes were discovered in her breast tissue. In 2014 she took the final step of having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to reduce her risk of ovarian cancer.
Krystal created Pink Hope for women and families with the goal of ensuring high risk families do not become the next generations cancer sufferers. This year, Pink Hope is asking women to Kiss and Tell: Kiss those closest to you and start a conversation about cancer and where it may lurk in your bloodlines.
Because I think this is a great cause and a fun way of showing support, I have organised fitness related fun-raiser with my exercise community Friday Cats.
We are always looking for fresh meat to come along. We are a bunch of like-minded Mums who like to keep fit and have fun.
Details are below if you are keen to come along tomorrow, make some new friends and wear that bright pink lipstick.
