Our Brave Leader has put out a media release on the opening of charming new premises for ArtSound FM in Manuka.
I’m a big fan of the idea of ArtSound even if I frequently find it interminably boring. But I do wonder where the money comes from. (hey, I’d like a radio sation and an office in manoooka too OK?)
In any event between Penelope Layland and the fragrant sounding Leah De Forrest they let this piece of flagrant bullcrap sneak through:
Every month, about 45% of Australians tune in to a community radio station,†he said. “That’s an audience reach of seven million people.
a) Audience reach is the people listening at the same time, not for 5 seconds, as they try and find Big Balls FM, aggregated over a month. (1,000 people a day look at RiotACT, do we have a monthly readership of 30,000? No we don’t)
b) There are many community radios in many, many locations. aggregating the aggregate above is statistically insane.
I hope the Chief Minister isn’t as stupid as his media release suggests. 1/3 of Australians are not listening to community radio, let alone ArtSound.
I do hope they get on well in their scrumptious new premises however.
