Rather than consuming the site’s full footprint, the Canberra-based, award-winning architects Townsend + Associates Architects looked at alternate ways to achieve the right density on the site using the smallest building footprint possible. The result? A spacious setting that offers leisure options within the grounds.

T2, the smaller 7-storey building, is the same height as the magnificent 300-year-old tree, fully incorporating its presence to create a strong connection between the building and the landscape. The taller building, T1, embraces the smaller T2 building with a similar plan.

An accessible pocket park centred around the tree also provides a public thoroughfare through the site linking the town centre with Yerrabi Pond recreational facilities.

Lumi apartments have Canberra’s highest average energy rating of 8.5 stars, some are as high as 10 stars, and use less energy to heat and cool, reducing running costs.
