Gun in Mawson, car stolen in Wanniassa, Phillip man arrested.

ACT Policing has arrested a 32-year-old man following an aggravated robbery in Mawson early this morning (Wednesday 11 December).

About 6.30am, the man entered the Woolworths Caltex in Mawson and threatened a staff member with a firearm.

The man took cigarettes and a small sum of cash before fleeing in a silver Ford 4WD that was previously stolen from a burglary in Wanniassa.

Police attended the area and obtained CCTV footage.

Based on the information gathered, police arrested a man in Phillip.

The man was taken to the ACT Watch House and is expected to be charged with numerous offences, including aggravated robbery.

Investigations are continuing.
