I happened to be in Queanbeyan the other day looking for a quick bite for lunch, and stopped off at the Yass Road Takeaway for a burger. Here’s a blow by blow comparison between them and that greasy van out back of the Belconnen Labour Club (apologies, but I forgot the name of the place). The BLC greasy is a 10/10/10 for comparative purposes – in advance disclaimer, it’s not exactly my opinion of a perfect burger, but suitable to compare to.

Details:
Yass Road Takeaway is approximately 30 seconds from the ACT border, most would have probably passed it at some stage if they have ever been to the coast. The ‘catch’ with their products is that they are crumbed and deepfried before being put into a burger – which while it seems odd at first glance, works strangely.
Notably, this is a burger joint run by a couple of blokes of the ‘wog’ persuasion, and if there’s one thing they know how to do other than wear a heap of gold and go doof doof, its working with grease in a chippy. I liked how one of the blokes really seriously did look like he was on speed, and these blokes are hardcore raiders fans – plenty of paraphernalia to look at while you are waiting for service.
Overall Rating:
I give it a 11, it’s good burger. I’d recommend stopping by if you are still hung-over from the night before, but didn’t manage a feed before you left home. They also do a lambs fry burger if you are particularly adventurous, again crumbed and deep-fried if you thought you were going to get away with it.
